2009 SHARK CLUB ANNUAL PRIZE CATEGORIES

Every year shark club members get to compete for annual trophy and prizes.The winners in each category will have there name on a list that will be displayed on this website updated regularly and at the end of the year usually on December 26,27, or 28 we have a awards party/ceremony where we hand out the prizesto each winner.This party is the event of year and everyone has lots of fun.
RULES OF THE COMPETITION

Competition Dates= from January 1st,2009 - December 25th,2009(except Triple Crown 1/1/09 to 12/31/09)

In order to promote and encourage catch and release of sharks the winners in each category are determined on each shark's total length.Measured from tip of nose to tip of tail.Sharks are not judged on weight.

Fish other then sharks are judged by weight or by length.Preferably you should weigh and measuere your fish, but If a scale is not available then measure the over all length for your catch to qualify for a prize. Fish that must be released such as Goliath grouper should be measured if possible to keep accurate records and to avoid discrepancies. All fish to be released must be handled with care to assure it's survival upon release.

$1500 TRIPLE CROWN PRIZE (competition ends Dec 31 2009

New for the 2009 shark fishing season,is the addition of a Triple Crown Trophy category with $1500 cash prize for any dues paid SOUTH FLORIDA SHARK CLUB member who wins these three categories,#1 the biggest tiger shark,#2 biggest hammerhead and#3 the biggest bull shark of the year.Anyone in any state or country can enter the only requirement is you must pay the annual $35 membership to be eligible for the $1500 (U.S currency).The competition starts January 1st,2009 and ends December 31,2009.In order to be eligible for the prize you must sign up for shark club membership and send in your $35 annual fee AT ANY TIME DURING THE 2009 calender year ,but only sharks caught after we recieve your payment will be eligible for the prize and trophy. You don't have to attend meetings if you don't want to ,you don't have to be an active member if you don't want- just send in the money and then fish your arse off!!!You must post your catch with the story and pictures on this website https://www.southfloridasharkclub.com.Winners will be determined by overall length of each shark.The person catching the shark must be in two clear, legible pictures next to the shark and those two pictures must be posted on https://www.southfloridasharkclub.com . One picture must show a tape measure stretched out from the tip of the sharks nose to the tip of the shark's tail and the second picture must show an up close picture of where the tip of the tail touches the measuring tape.The sharks may be caught from boat or land.All three sharks must be caught by only one individual without assistance on the rod.No electric reels allowed only rod and reel allowed.If no one angler wins the three categories then the prize will be divided in three parts,,,$500 for biggest hammer of the,$500 for biggest Tiger shark of the year,and $500 for the biggest Bull shark of the year.The cash will be handed out or check mailed out to the winner or winners on Jan 1st,2010.More details to come soon.

Sharks must be measured in this form-tip of nose to tip of tail.


The second picture must be a close up of where the tip of the sharks tail falls on the tape.

The tentative winners for 2009 are being posted at this time.If anyone sees a mistake on the board please contact me with the proof and we will correct the mistake.All competition ends December 25th ,except the Triple Crown $1500 which runs til the last day of the year December 31st,2009
This year has been an exceptional year for land based shark fishing and our club members are at the forefront with some of the best catches anywhere on the face of the planet.Those catches have shown what the land-based angler that works hard and prepares right can achieve without use of a boat.Twelve foot two inch hammerhead ,11 foot 2 inch Mako and an 8 foot 2 inch Sand Tiger are some examples of THE BEST OF 2009.Can't wait to see what 2010 has in store for us.Keep up the good work fellas!!
