12/0 question
I have found a 12/0 but have a question it has the older metal spool and was wondering how old it might be the seller is not sure how old it is and it also has a chrome ring cracked and its missing the reel clamp but everything seems to be in working order he says. Is there anything else I need to look for in the older 12/0 to make sure I dont have to invest to much money after buying it?
Thanks

The older 12/0 brass spools are better in the fact they hold more line and more sturdy.. less chance of blowin out.. 70s and 80s.. the chrome ring and clamps are easy to find.. I stumbled upon Scotts Bait & Tackle.. i have ordered a few things from them including clamps and rings..
i believe clamp sets are 30 for the set.. and chrome rings are about 15-20 a piece.. but those are strictly cosmetic. ( i would replace it if the crack is huge or deep).. so id ask the seller to lower the price or offer him less etc... so you wont spend more on replacing parts missing or damaged...
hope this helps
Last week we found an ad for two sets of 12/0s w rods for $200 each at Jacks bait and tackle (in Florida city)and we snatched the ad from the wall my friend wants one for himself but he has to call yet, and the other is up for grabs (I have too many Senators myself )when my friend Colby (sharkinmiami)gets back from Tennessee i'll have him call and see if they are still available.
