Joshua strikes again, opening morning of the youth season Josh bagged a Jake, he was pretty excited, but questioned what we where going to do the rest of the weekend, got to do a little fishing.

Today was the opening day of the regular season, raining (snowing) wind blowing. But my brother, Dan managed to get a nice tom

I harvested one this morning, had 6 birds gobbling within a hundred yds of me. This guy came right in to the decoy, I mean he was Beak to Beak with it 10 yds out.

Another one falls, this was a classic hunt, took my neighbor out behind the house. Tons of birds gobbling, this bird fly down into the feild, we begin to call him in, next thing I know 2 more birds walk out into the feild. All three birds walk over to the decoys strutting and gobbling. My neighbor dropps the hammer on this bird, the other bird stays put as this bird begins to flop around the other bird jumps up and starts fighting with him. It was great what an experience

Thanks, that bow hunting is tough I was out the other night 2 different toms less than 30 yards but some brush in the way. If I had a shotgun it would have been toast.

That was just the first week, there are a ton of birds, must of had a good hatch cause there are just a ton of jakes around.

You guys getting any down there?

My son, Andrew just got back from a tour in Iraq, we decided to have a boys days out, it was great to be able to spend the morning with my boys. While sitting there calling turkeys and telling stories, Andrew tells his little brother not to move that we had a turkey coming walking in. I looked out the window of the blind there it was 20 yards and coming right in Andrew tells his little brother to get ready. Josh gets ready, the bird is in the decoys, I tell him to go ahead and take the shot, Doom, the bird drops. What a great way to end the morning. GOt to spend some great time with the boys, and harvested a bird to boot. Life just doesn't get any better.
