"Winter Jackpot" Land Based Shark Tournament!!

Fellas we are thinking of putting together a Winter Shark tournament for all that are itching and anxious and cant wait until late January or February for the Blacktip Challenge and April the Big Hammer Challenge. A Winter Shark Tournament for the Fisherman thats got a bad case of 'shark fever' and has been eyeballing there rods for months, days, and hours waiting for the BTC and the Big Hammer Challenge to commence.

Two Tournaments to Fish all year long? NOT ENOUGH-NO WAY !!!!!!!!!!
Having fun catching sharks while having friendly competition for CASH,,,it's a no-brianer.
Another thing that many of you have personally told me would make a tournament more enticing and draw more anglers and competition (Big $$$$$$$$$$ MONEY PRIZES)

Entrance Fees will be a little higher, But so will be the rewards $$$$$$

A route were taking to keeping all of the Entrance Fees guided straight in to the CASH prizes will be as follows
1. We may skip or minimize the process of sponsors all together.
2. We will MINIMIZE the cost of trophies and awards
3.We will cut back on other cost to MAXIMIZE CASH PRIZES.

By doing so, a large percentage of Entree fees will go directly to the money pot and other prizes.
All anglers will be informed of the exact amount of Entree fees collected (Anglers Fishing).

2 costs that may need to come from the entrance fee money is a)300$ liability coverage for such a large cash tournament
And b)a polygraph test for the 3 biggest prize winners.

By doing estimations we have gathered a hypothesis on amount of teams and Rewards

1.We believe 60$ entrance fee per person is fare
2. We think we can gather 300 anglers for such a big money tournament making it an $18,000 pot split in to
About 6-10 main categories like the following

Biggest shark $6,000
Most sharks$4,000
Biggest shark female $1,000
Biggest shark jr $1,000
Biggest hammer $1,000
Biggest bull $1,000
Biggest tiger $1,000
Biggest from bridge $1,000
Biggest from spinner $1,000
Biggest on 80 lb test $1,000

This type of money will have all of Tampa, Palm Beach and Panhandle hitting the sand hard!!!!!!!!

Fellas its all in Negotiations and Game Plan mode right now so please Chime in with Ideas!!

Months and Rules are open discussion right now!!!!

Spread the Word!!!!!!!!

I think a 3 month Tourney would be a good idea. I think November through January ending before the BTC is a good idea. Or a summer tourney June through August would be good too as colleges and school is out of session during this time. I think the polygraph idea has to go. No need for that in my opinion. Also, everyone is different but I don't have a problem with trophies, awards and tackle. Money doesn't motivate me to fish. Let's get some feedback. You know what could be pretty cool too? A tourney where you represent and fish a certain county. Dade, Broward, Palm Beach , Keys, West Coast etc etc. just an idea. I like the three month tourney idea.

i think its a great idea but i think one that starts in AUG and ends in OCT would be better that way sharkers can recoup during the holidays

You could add a category for mako sharks..past few years it seems to be a few caught up north during the winter months, maybe a category for biggest pier caught shark as well (for the piers where it is still legal). Maybe an award for biggest fish too..goliath grouper are available in winter also, but I guess it would depend on how many anglers are fishing whether or not to add more categories. For the kind of money involved I believe $60 is a good deal. I also like the idea of representing your county as well. The polygraph isn't a bad idea either..the redfish tournaments do that as well.
