West Coast Poon
I finally managed to get out and soak some baits for sharks and tarpon after almost a month. It's been a strange year of fishing with very little bait inshore and not much to catch from the beach but snook it seems. I decided to hit the sand in the late afternoon and set up one rod for poon and a couple for shark but wasn't planning on staying too long. The day didn't start out so well because as I was running my second line out some punks burned my line on the 12/0 causing me to lose 200 yards of line. The only reason I can think why they would do this is because I setup my rod about 15 yards from them. I looked around for them for a bit, but they had taken off. A nice gentleman helped me retrieve the cut line and get my rig and bait back which was somewhat of a relief. I was livid at the time but decided karma would take care of those kids and got back to fishing. My luck would soon change a couple hours later with my first nice poon of the year!
