Snook and I 01/15

Traditionally I tend to try and avoid fishing Saturday's if possible just because of how populated our waterways can get. Fishing in close proximity of other boats or even seeing them rip up the flats from a distance sort of downgrades the outdoor experience for me. This past Saturday the weather was gorgeous so I just had to get out. I had a very late start and wasn't able to launch the kayak until after 11am so I decided on a backwater area that hardly ever sees any pressure because of how far away from the bay it is. I setup on a stretch of sandy shoreline and with the sun overhead I could fairly easily see any fish that crossed my path. I started seeing some decent snook and after a while started to get some follows. I primarily fished two shorelines throughout the afternoon with a DOA CAL shadtail and tallied up 16 snook with the average being about 24" along with four that were 30-31.5". The larger fish were caught in the deeper water while the little guys were on the edges of the dropoffs soaking up rays. Saturday afternoon...with just me and my favorite fish.

I agree with you about Saturdays..which is why I usually work most Saturdays. But sometimes you can't let those weekend "warrior" people scare you from going out..you never know what you'll miss out on.

I land a Snook from time to time, but they look nothing like yours. I always have a dirty piece of concrete in the photo from a bridge, building, street, etc..... My Snook are usually dark in color. The Snook in your neck of the woods and the scenery are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.
