I had a 5+lb jack out today live on my 9 0.
He was out around 300+ yards out to the s/e.
I was talking to Jimmy Tuppins.
No lie, I said "Man I wish a blacktip would hit this jack."
as soon as I said that, my 9 0 goes screaming.
Jimmy and I looked at each other like, WHAT!?!?!
So I grab the rod, im down to 1/2 spool.
And this guy gets the tip of his rod wrapped up in my line.
Then gets his rig hooked up in my line I tell him to just cut it.
But my real was screaming so loud he wasn't in the right mind set.
I was just about to set hook because I knew the shark had the whole jack by now. About 1 min had passed. He finally cuts the line and as soon as he does he grabs my line and hook pulls. I never got to set hook.
I reeled in the jack and all that was left was the tail where I had hooked him. The teeth marks looked like a tiger to me.
Snapper are still there mostly small ones but some 12+ inch were caught.
Couldn't find my camera for pictures sorry. I'll have to get another one. 
Brown water but some clean water in between the brown.
Bait in the surf only. (pilchards & deens)
Butterfish and moon fish everywhere.
Sandperch hitting small pices of mullet on bikis.
Bluefish and ladyfish all around.
thats y i cant fish piers, sorry u lost that beast
Yeah alot of spinning rod green horns have messed me up this year.
My favorite is when they have the sibiki rods on the end of the pier.
Not being fish, just there to get into your line.
A sharp knife cuts most green horn lines quickly. 
But remember I'm a levelwinder at heart.
