So we get there a few hours before the tide change. Figured we'd just get bait and screw round till it changed. Have 3 bonito just waiting to balloon out on the outgoing. But the time on the charts comes and goes, still incoming. So I get aggrevated and say screw it and and cut a bonito head off and pantyhose it up and dump Menhaden oil on it, and drop it straight down and slightly under my feet. I attach a safety leash to my new 12/0 combo and walk away. Im rigging another rod for the wife and i hear bunch of quick clicks then silence. I look around and say was that the 12/0?! So I pick it up and the line slowly starts moving upcurrent! So I start cranking like crazy to come tight! When the line comes tight the rod slams town on the rail but I (without thinking) slid my hand up the rod between the new rod and concrete rail. SLAM! so now Im cussing and grunting and drop to a knee with the long foregrip on the rail and butt under my arm and the rod tip heading under the bridge! Just when I thought I could gain some line BAM! My 80lb Dacron parts sending me sprawling backwards laying on my back inventing new swearwords .
Tide finally turned, baits ballooned out, baits got hit repeatedly but just couldnt get a hookset. The 12/0 with 80lb dacron is about to get a 400lb Mono topshot before next weekend when I seek the "Troll under the bridge" again! 8-) Hopefully I have pics with my next report :x
Also, anyone know what company marks their blanks KC-80? This thing is like a damn "Jewfish Rod"!

Just brought home some hose to "Hose" up the new rod. The guys I got it from said they thought it was a Gatorglass but not sure (some rodbuilders huh?) I really don't like that shop but when I heard about the deal on the combo I had to get it. My brothers used to use 2 shark rods tied to one leader and one bait for GG and still get their butts whipped  Hopefully I can get back out there this weekend for a rematch. Gonna try to get my brothers GoPro to get some footage and/or some stills down there to see what were dealing with here . cfronczek89, if ya get out there maybe I'll run into ya. If the North side is too crowded or just sucking then I'll hit the South. Any idea which is deeper? People keep telling me both and I rarely hit the South, the wife is afraid of the "big bridge"
"Doubled up heavy mono"? You mean like taking two 100ft sections of 130lb and tying both to the spool and spooling them up side by side and tying both to my swivel? Im close to just tying in a 75ft section of my 400lb mono but man is that stuff thick! Theres room on the spool though. It isnt really topped off. I may pick up some 200lb Tuffline or similar soon to spool it properly ;) or half Tuffline and 200lb mono topshot. Think the 80lb dacron on there is older than I want it to be. I cut a bunch off and am down to what looks new but Id rather KNOW what Im working with.

If your fishing a bridge like that I suggest filling your reel with 150 or 130 mono and doing a spider hitch or Bimini so you have maybe 20 feet of the double line so when you have that big fish that wants to go under you have the double line already inside your reel. And was that the rod that Dakota suggested buying? What's the length on it I was thinking of buying it

Not sure which rod Dakota suggested to be honest. Its 7.5ft 80lb class all AFTCO bigfoot black rollers, black AFTCO aluminum butt, long Velvet like foregrip, black AFTCO reel seat. Has a 12/0 on it with one tine on the star drag broken off and 80lb dacron. A hell of a decent looking rod if you ask me. An F'ing steal for $250. But now I gotta find a harness and/or fighting belt or something, that thing puts a hurting on your groin!
