Hello out there. we been killin ray ray here lately. We killed 16 one night and 12 another and 16 on the last trip. We dont kill small ones. if it ant over 8lbs or so we let it go. Probaly half of what we kill is 15lbs or better. When the crabs get bad there ant but one thing to use, ole ray ray. People ask why, well a big ray is just as good to me as an AJ, both is bait. We gig them with a single prong gig and then we gaff them and throw them in the cooler. When we get home befor we freez them I cut off the barb. Joey Polk and Monica Polk and me. Oh yeah I went bule water fishin with long time friend Captin John Ferris. He put me on a nice tuna and a nice bull dolphin. I eat those and use the carcas for bait when the crabs ant bad.

how long dose it usualy take you to get 16 rays
Im real picky on size. the last night i went we could have killed 50 or 60 but I like the good sized ones. We start late like 10:00pm and go until 4:00am usually. We kill the biguns late. It takes a while before they bed down good. The rays ant a protected species and dont even have a limit. No one has ever targeted them. I have done this for years and i move around alot so not to hurt the pop. I take what i need and no more. Like i have said before, shark fishermen dont fish with lures. I need bait, i produce it my self i try to stay away from the fish house and use the charter boats as a last resort. Its good carma to use a bait ya caught ya self.

You know i been fishin, the snot is gone and so is the bite. We put 2 of those big rays and 3 smaller ones out a couple days ago and set all night from dusk to dawn and didnt even get a click. I got 6 of those big fresh rays on ice headed to the cape tues and wens this week. Whin i get a slow night like that i move or just give it a while. It ant worth my bait stocks to fish when the fish ant there. Depending or the red tide, is the fall run here.
