Offshore Miami

Headed out early yesterday on my friends sea vee. We loaded up on bait really quickly at 21 down by stiltsville. Next we headed way out, mabye ten miles looking for birds and saw nothing, so set our lines out and trolled back in. While trolling we hooked a nice cuda for shark bait and lost another fish not to long after that. We then set up in around 300 feet put some baits 2 livies down about 100 feet and 2 livies on floats. Something smacked the livie on the float but didnt get hooked and my friend eddy caught an about a 10lb aj on the bottom. After getting to shallow we set up another drift in around 250 and caught 2 more little aj's on butterfly jigs. I put a live bait on my tld and sent it down to the bottom.. i had to help my other friend out with a rig so i put my rod in a holder and set up his kingfish rig. when i turned back the rods buckled over.. thinking its a nice mutton or something, I hand it to my friend and he reels it in. It doesn't take any drag until it i guess it saw the boat and zzzzzzz fishing line flies out of the reel. After a nice run it gives up and five minutes later i gaff him and get him in the boat and its my friends first kingfish.. a 13lber. We decide to take one more drift cuz its time to head in soon and we get a nice 5lb mutton and a grover.... needless to say we ate well last night with kingfish steaks and snapper filets. hopefully i can post some pics soon
