Was hoping to post a big shark report soon but the crabbers laid a styrofoam minefield that makes landing anything over 5 feet almost impossible . I live on the wrong beach in Florida for serious beach sharking , I know the sharks are here , seen some big bulls out with me this weekend . Anyways , here's some pictures of my silver friends , hope you enjoy.

Jeff

This week was the hotest temperature wise that it's been all year , set some records . I was hoping for a front by now but that just has not happened yet , something to give all that bait up north a kick in the ass to head this way . Even though , there are some signs that the summer is over , birds are starting to work what bait is being balled up by spanish and ladyfish . Hooked my first king of the year but it bit through the mono . I also hooked a monster cuda while I was casting a bait at some tarpon . It came sky rocketing out like a North Korean missile , 40 pounds would be a low estimate , wish I would have landed it but the picture is burned in my brain anyhow. There are some tarpon mixed in with about every school of bait you can find . They seem hungry if you can put something in front of them they want to eat. I landed 4 the last few days , 3 medium size , from 30 to 50 pounds , and one big girl this morning. Here are some pictures and some brief descriptions .

If you look close you can see a tarpon or two in most of these photos. I missed some great shots of them breaching out of the water with a mouth full of sardines , incredible site , my new goal is to get that picture.

Some shots of the smaller fish.

The picture above shows a tarpon getting a gulp , when they do that your in for a fight.

Upside down with it !

Parting shots...

The big girl !!

Big buckethead....

Wish this shot was focused , kinda sweet.

The release

Also caught a baby space alien....

Good job landin those tarpon in your yak. It's amazing to see them around in those quantities still. I only saw 2 lil poons on the surface in boca grande and didn't mark em' on my bottom machine either so they are definately movin away from SW Florida. If you are having trouble shark fishing from the beach and you can catch tarpon in a yak just shark fish from the yak. I've seen it done and as long as you don't target the bigger size sharks (unless you have an outrigger) you should do fine with catchin em.

:D That's funny . Honestly , I just keep a Pelican case with my camera in it between my legs. When I catch up to the fish I hold my rod in my left hand and camera in the right . If I think a jump is coming I start blasting away shots , most of thr time I miss or don't get anything . These four fish , about 400 pictures to get what I got. It aint easy.
