Lunker snook & spooled down to a few wraps by a giant tarpon

I went to the tarpon spot today to try and get a river monster. There wasn't much action but I was able to get a ray for shark bait later on and a big spadefish..then once the moon was overhead things picked up, I got this nice snook, I'd say it is around 12-15# not sure, but it was heavy and fat. My tackle box is 14 inches long and the snook is nearly 3x that from tip 2 tip. Not long after that one of my spinning rods went off again I tightened the drag but this time it wasn't any snook..once it realized it was hooked a monster tarpon came flying out on the other side of the canal. I am in big trouble I have a 10 lb class spin reel with about 130 yards of line and this tarpon was well over 100#. Of course instead of picking up the bigger baits with the bigger reels that I could beat the tarpon with, it ignored those and chose the small bait and rigged up to a little quantum optix 40 spinning reel. I was hooked up for several minutes and he jumped about 5 times..at one point I even gained a little bit of line back but I spent most of the fight chasing him down the sea wall..he got me down to only a few wraps on the spool as it headed for the river..I had to put more pressure on and I felt the tail whip and snap my line. I think I did a good job to stay hooked up to it for that long from land on this setup only a foot of 50 lb leader and 12 lb line..here is my snook..
