3-17-11 a monster jewfish, trying to make his way into the rocks..he did, and escaped, this time. to be continued..very frustrating I was hooked up to it for quite some time but my little avet lx and 30-40# star rod were overpowered but I almost had him..now my crotch is killing me my knees are scraped and there is a big jewfish with about 20 ft of
250# mono and several feet of #15 wire dangling from its mouth.
i've never seen a star rod that nice, did you buy it like that? or was it rebuilt to ur liking? and is it a fiberglass or graphite rod?

that's a 100% off the shelf rod and I was quite impressed with the little demo the guy in the tackle shop gave me the day I bought that and only paid $100 for it. the blank is fiberglass but a little too fast of a taper for bigger fish off the bridge but good backbone for a rod that rating..if my reel would have had more drag I could have beat that fish I think. my other bridge rod has a slower taper and a 12/0 but of course the fish takes the bait rigged up to the smaller gear
