Fishing and unwinding in the Florida Keys

Summer brings a welcome relief from tournament shark fishing so we've been spending time at our place in Key Largo. The chance to fish on my boat and spending time with family and friends since the Big Hammer Challenge ended was the stress relief the doctor ordered,,,,,,so that's what we've been doing.Chasing dolphin early in the AM and reef fish in the afternoon has been fun; throw in some spearfishing and of course time dedicated to the wife and our two girls who are out of school for the summer is priceless. Here are some pics of early summer 2011.

little wahoo caught during the morning bite

My good friend Luis Iglesias with an early afternoon red grouper caught in 156 feet of water drifting with live pinfish

nice Mutton I caught using a live pinfish at the Winsco wreck 129 ft of water (Key Largo)

Lui and I flying in at the end of the day

My friend Ozzie and my buddy Ulyses(wearing old Speedos  ) dove in blue water to lance this Triple Tail

On a flat calm day searching for dolphin we found this 7 foot Sunfish with it's huge dorsal fin sticking out of the water and we were able to photograph up close this gentle giant of the sea

My buddy Justin and his son JJ had a blast fishing out on the reefs

Fishing with another friend Roly

a good days catch- a mixed bag

A friend DJ "Fat Carlos" and a friend of his dancing to his block party music

tables and food at the party

Roly and I ready for a cold mango flavored 'cuca fresca' drink after a day on the water

The girls ,Roly and I riding the golf cart

Me and my two girls Natalie and Ashley pose with our dog Suki (Azukita) in our travel trailer

One weekend my son and nephews showed up with there girlfriends and I told them all "you want to eat jumbo shrimp-- you have to peel jumbo shrimp"so here is the whole crew peeling shrimp

dancing and playing some percussion instruments is what Cubans do when the sun gets this hot

my nephew and the girls they prefer to stay out of the suffocating heat and humidity

spending an afternoon at Jimmy Johnson's "Big Chill Bayside Resort" my son Danny scarfs up a slice of pizza

the wife and Natalie prefer to lounge out of the sun

my son Danny practicing his DJing skills

Another group of friends vacationing not too far from our place came by for cocktails and dinner one night

We will be doing some serious shark fishing very soon it's just that I needed a break and a change of pace.Spending time with much loved family and friends will invigorate the spirit and refresh the soul and will always remind me how precious they are to me.

All these are nice offshore fish which I will eventually target, spending time out of town with family is great, and I can't wait for another keys trip!

Just an average fisherman.
