Went out last night. Weather was great. Had alot bites just could not get a hook into anything. When I was getting ready to call it a night my new 9/0 started screaming. Got the hook set and had a little fight then he swam toward me I thought I had lost him. Untill about 25y from the bank then I had a fight. Was a nice fish. I got pics but won't let me post. It says Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.

That's a big first tarpon; make a photobucket account, makes everything simple and easy.

Just an average fisherman.

Thx, it was all luck. I got it on my new rig 9/0 with a huge handle this thing is like a meat grinder handle. I put it on 80lb class ugly stick. good action. last 25y was the best of the fight. What I can't get over is that I got him on a whole mullet about 14in long

Mullet is about all I can find to fish with. Been ok to fish with. My 2 sharks and tarpoon was all caught on them. Still want to try some rays.

Im surprised you are not seeing cownose all over the beach right now. If you're near some grassflats you can wade around looking for them and snag one. I grab the ones on the beach in the shallows barehanded or stab em center mass with a large knife pinning them to the bottom 8-). The tourists love that (sarcasm).

In the next day or so I am going to go try again. I soaked a Bonta last night. Note to self don't go on slack tide. nothing. Of coarse I did laugh my a@@ off watching the wife trying to take a pic of a rat. Glad I got dig cam or she would have wasted alot of money last night. I think she took about 50 pics of nothing. But it kept her out of my hair :D
