Was itching to take the boat out and get into blue water action.Went out with good friend Colby Uva owner of Bullbuster Line and Jonathan Polsino on Saturday night and got a 6 foot Cuban night shark and an 80 lb swordfish in 1600 feet of water 16 miles out of Haulover Inlet.Caught it on my Shimano Tiagra 50 w 50 lb test and we gaffed the fish with the head of flying gaff taped to a BROOMSTICK because we didnt have the gaff pole,,LOL     sometimes you gotta make do with what you got around you.It felt awesome to be back out fishing the deep blue on such a unusually calm sea at night. It was warm, the ocean was flat It felt like an August night . Fished 4 hours got two bites and got two fish,,can't wait to it again. This was the first time that Jonathan had been out on a boat with me and he was so freakin pumped up about us having caught this fish. I was happy to see him so happy he deserves it--good guy.I feel blessed everyday of my life to be surrounded by a loving family and good friends and I give thanks for all God has given me.Thanks Colby and Jonathan for the Good Times.

love my blue LEDS both inside and outside the

boat

That night after dropping off Colby and Jonathan back at the boat ramp at about 4:30 am I sailed solo south down the intra coastal to dock up next to my brother in laws 42 Cruiser yacht.I took a quick shower and jumped in the forward berth for a 3 hour nap .My wife made breakfast in the morning and we shoved off early delighted in the fantastic weather we were blessed with.We joined some other friends in their own boats and we anchored up at the Haulover sandbar(Beercan Island)for a day party.I made Swordfish sashimi with Ponzu Cilanto sauce and everyone there tore it up ,they liked the flavor and texture of fresh caught swordy.Great way to end the weekend. It's really great to be in South Florida.

Nice catch guys, I cant wait for my own shot at living the dream. Fishing, boating, sun, warm weather, and great food. Along with great friends, its hard to find those with the same passion and dedication that we here in the club have. Up here in Virginia its cold, everyone is grumpy, no one wants to do anything, they are all hermitized. But that isn't much different during the summer. I frequently find myself solo kayaking in 37-42 degree water hunting down Striped Bass. Its a blast don't get me wrong, but I can guarantee having a partner along with me would make it that much better. Cant wait to move to South Florida, 6 years and counting til I leave the Navy and join you Floridians for good.
