so i waited until later than i would have liked, (and i didnt have any company this time like id planned), but i still got 2 awesome looking baits in the water by 9-ready for the incoming tide. long story short i evidently suck at setting the hook cus i missed 5 hook sets and had 1 pull on a shark after it ran straight towards the beach (thought i'd lost it at first)... but the good news is the sharks/jewfish are here as good as ever, so hopefully i can figure out this hook setting dilema of mine

You got it made in the shade beach fishing, teh beach-mobile is pretty extreme, only thing i can see is it might get stuck in the sand on some of the beaches i fish, i say upgrade those tires till they are huge

Maybe you should try hooking the rays differently, like on the edge of the bait. I think when a shark picks it up when its like that, the hooks lay flat against the ray and the point never gets into the fish.

Sounds like you got what it takes to be successful except some luck. Just keep sharking and it will come to you. Try new things and keep good notes. A lot people from the site fish your area. I would reach out and do a sharking party on the beach and you could see a lot of different styles and figure it out very quickly.

if using big baits give it like a 15 or 20 count then set the hook and keep setting as your fighting. or big circle hooks. i got a lemon in the pass a while ago on a circle hook.
