Heres some of the bass Ive caught and released in my apt pond, so I know they're home but I think theyre bedding and all I can get to eat are small ones. Anyone know what to throw? Ideas?Keep in mind I am not really a freshwater guy but the pond is right downstairs :D also, what do Gizzard shad eat? Sabiki maybe? Theyre huge in here! Seen like 12"-14"ers :o I want to use one for bait :D LOTS of HUGE Plecostomus too, any guess on a bait they'll eat? Thats the black ugly one by the way lol, he ate a trebel hook to the side

Nice fish man. Here in Polk County we ain't got no sharks (at least I haven't been able to catch em yet) or saltwater so I've grown up freshwater fishin. If you still got spawning bass then you're in luck. They should be just about wrapped up though. If you see a big bass on its bed just keep throwin your lure at it until it gets so pissed off it will actually hit it. Another good method is to cast a topwater parallel to the shore and just drag it over bed after bed until one of them hit. Trust me, just keep throwin it even if your on like the 25th cast and it will eventually hit it (or you could snag it). I like using worms and just work it inside the bed to make the bass real mad. The pleco's are typically vegetarians but I have had them eat a rubber worm. If you got big bass you should go for the big catfish you probly got. Some fried catfish, slaw, and a huge glass of sweet tea is bout as good as it gets. Good luck.

I cant see the beds, the crappy Tilapia have taken up most of the shallower areas, there's one every 2 feet or so all the way around. I did alright the other day with a spinnerbait cast parallel to the shore ended up getting two in the 4lb range but the fish are harder to catch in the heat (or idk what to throw), most of the pic's were cold out spinnerbait or deadsticking a Culpret worm. The tiny ones chase everything moving fast but rarely hit it. A super slow popper or skitterwalk has gotten me a few but the huge ones just seem to have lockjaw since they started to bed. Ive just been pissing the Tilapia off till they try to kill my lure  or leaving it in their bed till they pick it up and move it out for a while now. Jus gettin a lil boring  I wish we had catfish, Ive tried a number of times and if we have em they just dont seem to wanna eat. I wonder bout stocking, legality and such. I can catch Channel cats and bullheads elsewhere but just not here. Hmmm, Think I need to dunk my underwater cam and take a look around, deep as hell, and the leasing lady wont let me dive it  Really a unique pond facinates me, also thinking bout tagging some Bass. Sometimes I think Im catching the same ones.

If the pond is deep then the big bass are probly at the bottom in the middle of the day with this heat. Try out different crankbaits until you find one that gets down almost to the bottom thats what I've been having luck with recently. For the cats you will have better luck at night if they are there. Put out a trot line with a bunch of fresh chicken gizzards and leave it out all night. Come back in the morning and hopefully it wont be loaded with turtles. Another thing you can try is putting your own structure in the pond and the bass will sit on it if you build it high enough.

I got my scum frogs from walmart, the bass love them. Try one at night, you won't be disapointed, just have to train yourself not to set the hook when you see the hit, you have to wait til you feel the fish. I have had 20 bass night on the scum froms!!! Post some more pics!

Try jitterbugs at early mrng or eve and maybe a clear torpedo and put a red stripe on the underside with a permanent marker..during the day I use worms and if windy I use spinnerbaits bec it creates vibration they can't resist.. use weedles hook style and get soft plastic frogs and just swim them on top that's works great too! U gotta swim the pastic frog on top so gotta swim them a little fast.

Remmy if u catch a smaller bass its usually the male garding the bed..sometime good to put them on a stringer so the female will bite and protect the bed..if u catch the male and throw him back he will go back to the bed and keep protceting the bed..

The bait fish like oily stuff, make a bread dough batch with oils. About the bass, my friend kills them on bean snap lures and I get them good on digging/slashing baits like x-raps

Just an average fisherman.

:D Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! The bass were chasing bait all over the pond yesterday! Was cool as hell, Ive never seen bass school up and chase bait around! Looked like a school of jacks or bonito!!! Smashing the surface like crazy (all small but it was awesome). I got 4 in 4 casts! 7 Total for the day and missed/lost many more! They fell for the old white $1 spinnerbait and Rattletrap. Fri I got 4 good sized fish and lost a bunch on a Saltwater X-Rap, they destroyed it! Broke off hooks, bent some out etc. Was crazy! Heres another few cool pic's from Fri, new pond spot just discovered :D Wifes new cam :D
