Monoxide - Impressive catch at a very tricky place to fish.

Could I ask a few questions?
How did you deploy your bait and how far out did you drop?
What did you use to keep your bait anchored to the sea floor?

My brother had a near miss with a serious accident just off the beach by the Phosphate Dock in a Kayak on a heavy incoming tide. I have always had a lot of respect for guys who can deploy baits out in The Pass. Let alone make a score!

I paddled it out not very far when your out try to line up with the end of the dock. We use anchors it's nice to have some one man the rod well your paddling. I do like a 30 sec count till I set the anchor and it usually sticks and holds where I want it at. You can use bricks as a breakaway also

Monoxide - Forgive what probably sounds like a dense question. You use an anchor on your leader/trace or for your Kayak once out in The Pass? The brick as a break away sounds like a good idea too.

Good to hear that you don't paddle too terribly far out. I've heard of guys waiting till the tide is slack and then deploying bait then. In that case, I guess you have to plan bait deployment timing just right.

I use it on the mono on my leaders. I have paddled on a decent tide and you have to have confidence in your paddling skills and start off to the side of your bait to account for tide pulling you
