Shimano Stella 3000FD on a St. Croix Legendary
I am selling my Shimano Stella 3000FD (with Ultracast 15lb braid) on my St. Croix Legendary Inshore rod, 7'6 Med-Lite Power, Fast Action 8-14lb. This rod has the titanium retractable guides and is by far my favorite rod I own. The Stella 3000 is the ideal inshore reel (for reds, snook, trout, and even small tarpon) that is far superior than any other reel I have fished. It packs 22lbs of drag, which is more drag than most 4000s. The rod and reel are almost perfectly balanced and I must sell them together, you will not be disappointed.
Rod and reel show some signs of use with minor scratches.
Selling to get a used sit on top kayak and 1200yds of 300lb Jerry Brown.
Reel is $649.99 new, rod is $330new...... price drop, will separate $350 for reel, $200 for rod Call or text 727-484-8528

Good question. Most braids break well over their ratings and i liked the extra yardage in case i hooked a 10-15jack for example. A friend of mine however has the same reel and he runs 20lb braid for his bridge snook fishing. This reel has the smoothest drag you will ever use and this little reel packs a punch. I believe you can utilize the full drag capability catching juvenile tarpon or monster snook. Once you catch a fish on a stella you will never want to use another spinning reel.
For the price i'll have to stick with my penn sargus
but i have fished with them and i don't beleive any reel makes a difference because it is the person using it that gets the fish to bite in the first place and has the skills to land them, but i suppose i would have one of those if i had the money or a van staal.
Just an average fisherman.
