I am curious where it came from and where its been, age, ect. we estimated 30-40 years judging by the previous hardware. that gimball alone weighed over a pound!

I got that MEATSTICK on a trade with a 12/0 on it from a local sharker. That was my first big rod/reel, and Sonny got to fight a 20' CC that ran over the line just as I dropped the bait. I had 250lb braid on it, and Sonny caught the boat, and I got my rig back! The guy I got it from said he had it for a long time and it has caught numerous sharks over the years. That rod definately has good mojo and did me right, it was just too damned heavy. It sounds perfect for what you want to do with it, and that re-build is incredible!!! Good luck and be sure to post up your first catch with it!!!
