Looking to sell a very good condition (perfect working order, just serviced with reel-x oil and Cal's) Penn International 50w. Drag washers have been switched to the (()) configuration for excellent drag numbers with freespool. Brand new 80 lb mono backing and a fresh 100lb topshot (~150 yards).

(()) is already - the original configuration for penns level drag. Any other settings - are custom to the fisherman needs.
The (()) is soft, ))(( moderate and (((( is hard. The (((( is the one that gives the highest drag settings while retaining the freespool. The last setting is also the one commonly used by reel repair guys to tune-up the drag for penn level drag reels.
If this reel would have a two speed gear - i would buy it from you. I like cranking in lower gear. Still a good price though.

The stock configuration on every Penn international I've ever worked on is ()() plus or minus a thrust washer. This reel had that orientation when I serviced it. With ()() the reel would only do around 15 pounds of drag at strike before losing freespool. Changing to (()) with a washer nearly doubled my drag with freespool. Check out Alan Tani's tutorials on internationals. That's where I learned.
