I have only ever seen one reel completely dumped and the reel that it was tied into was almost dumped as well, it was one night at delray beach a couple years back as shannon fished a 12/0 full of dacron and hooked a monster, it emptied the 12/0 slow and steady then when it got to the bottom, a team of quick and coordinated people held the fish long enough to tie into a 14/0 and the fight was then continued.
But JD has told me many times that he has never been dumped before and some of you know that off of haulover pier him and rene stopped an 11ft hammer on a jigmaster and a 4/0 with only mono!
But what others have said, every fish is different...
