I was wondering what would be better to use I ussaully target sharks no more than 8 foot long and I've seen that I have gotten more pickups on cable and what size should I use wen targeting 6 to 8 footers ik that big sharks can shred cable but the wire doesent get near as much pickups as cable seems easier to store in a loop what do you guys think would be better to use?
try 1/16 galvanized cable i have seen anywhere from 4ft-10ft+ sharks caught on it and you can get it from the local hardware store it is easy to braid your hook onto. hope this helps

i dont crimp i braid it
single strand is the way to go. quick haywire twists, no stupid crimps thimbles or kinking of cable. I know what you mean with less pickups. Try this stuff http://www.catchsharks.com/index.php/ma ... -hard-wire
#14 is the highest he has. But if you double it up, it will be much more flexible and hold up to fish much bigger than 8ft. The nylon coating is pretty durable. As long as the fish isnt chewing on it for the whole fight, it will last.
