Hi I'm new to the forum and new to shark fishing been catching some but need some
Help I need to know what knot to tie in this 400 pound mono. I found one knot online that was very simple and worked but can't find it again. It will be used for tieing hooks and swivels. Thanks in advance!

How do the crimps hold compared to a knot? And do you guys use one crimp or two?

A single crimp will work just fine.

A second crimp is just for insurance, Use 2 crimp when you are making that special rig for your monster catch.

I am obsessed with crimping anything I can. I crimp my 100 lb top shot to my abrasion leader. Heck, this fall I am going to start crimping 60 and 80 lb mono leaders to hooks for bull drum.

The one thing about crimping is that you need to make sure it is tight enough and not to tight.
If it is to loose it will slip before the line breaks, if it is crimped to hard it will break at a lower lb because it is cutting it

Test the depth of crimping until you get it. All line have slightly different sizes so it isn't one size crimp fits all

Considering how easy the uni knot is to tie what is the advantage of crimping over the uni knot
