What 80lbs of drag looks like!

I done some drag checking with a Penn 130 loaded with straight 200lb mono this afternoon playing around. This is 50lbs, 60lbs, 70lbs, and 80lbs on a beast of a rod. Its a 130 or unlimited sized trolling blank with a 26 tip. I wish I knew what brand the blank is because it is a good one, very comfortable, and a little faster actioned then most trolling blanks. I am hooked to my pickup in the pics. 50lbs was a cake walk, could hold that for a long, long time I am sure with line pulling off of it. I did not realize that I was leaning more and more until looking at the pics. Even 80lbs was not that bad, but I am in my yard and not on the sand, that is my disclaimer, I know somebody will say that, lol. I think I could hold 80lbs for a few minutes like that with line being pulled off, not long though, a big harness would come in handy here.

ha ha, I was worried about that and kind of pushing down on the rod as I was pulling so it really dug into the ground!

 I think 80lbs of drag would drag me on my ass! A 7ft Sandbar felt like it was inching me along in the sand till I got my feet dug in! On my 12/0 and 130lb Dacron  Cant imagine 80lbs if drag! Notice the foot holes lol! I was wearing gore-tex pants but still. Im 6ft 151lbs

You can sit on a plate with a crosspin to lock the gimbal in - then it cant slip back and the reel cant rock from side to side either while cranking.

Awesome, now did you ease into the 80lbs or start from lockdown from the get go?

I put a piece of tape on the right side of the reel beside of the lever and had my wife beside the scale letting me know what was going on while I was fine tuning and then marked the lbs so I would be able to go right to each setting for the pics.
