Surf gear question

Hi! I've finally relocated from Illinois to Florida (St Augustine, near Jacksonville).

Since I don't know anyone in the area, I figured I would try a casting setup instead of yakking out baits for bigger fish until I get more experience. I'm planning on a Penn 4/0 for the reel but I can't decide on a rod. I'm wanting something in the 11-12' range but I'm having trouble finding something good with metal reel seats for around 100.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! eBay is an acceptable option but I would prefer a normal o line retailer. Thanks!

I don't know of any rods for your budget with a metal reel seat. Most metal reel seats are custom rods. Suggestion - you can find a rod you like and bring it to a rod builder and have them put on an upgraded reel seat.

Does your Penn reel have a rod clamp? If it does, I would not be too concerned about using a surf rod without a metal reel seat, the clamp will help take any loads.
