Take it from Cj, He puts more pressure on his rods then grander tunas can and will do. New glass rods will make a lot of noise.Nothing wrong with that.

heres a 80lb rod loaded with around 62lbs

and heres a 100lb rod loaded with 50lbs of dangerous lifting drags

Yes this is what happens when trying to lift an 800lb pissed off tuna with heavy drag

heres a 50-130lb rod at beach angles with about 60lbs

same 50-130 rod lifting on a 1000lb+ over 10 foot long BFT trying to break it but could not...This rod is a true beast

And here is how I practice :o

Y

have been there before and the water is only about 4-5 feet deep and there are hardly any waves. Will there even be sharks in this water to catch?

I have seen big sharks in shallower water then that, so yea if there is bait there they want sharks will go in very shallow water. Plus with that set up you should be able to launch bait 75-100 yards with ease.

Ok sounds good
And thanks for the bait tips. I am unsure if i will be able to get live bait but i will try.
Another question is that we will have a house on the ocean with a pier about 20 feet long, so i will definately try to fish from there, but i have been there before and the water is only about 4-5 feet deep and there are hardly any waves. Will there even be sharks in this water to catch?

I've seen 500 lb bulls in 2 feet of water...IF you get on the pier and balloon a bait out you should do really well.

Live baits can be caught on shrimp, pieces of shrimp, squid, anything man.IF you catch little crokers or jacks hook them and put them out fish eat fish.Sometimes you have to work your way up the food chain. I have seen more sharks in shallow water feeding then hundereds of yards out. I have seen big .. no massive hammers bulls and lemos crusing in waist deep water.

Ok now i feel more confident about my chances.
But if i fish from a pier, and i do hook up to a big shark and reel it in, then what do i do once i get it to the pier? If its too heavy to lift up all the way???

x2

I have tail roped 200 lbders and drug them up... only reason was I was at south bridge in fort pierce and It would have took over an hour to walk back to the bottom of the catwalk and I Was not upfor it. At no circumstance should you lift a fish out of the water its unnatural and can hurt them badly.. Best thing is to walk them to the beach.

Any kind of rope would work. I use 3/4 inch braided rope.

I make a slip knot and double the line back in it to make some what of a laso and slip it around the tail... if it's a hammer around the hammers

Could even make just a slip knot and make the opening pretty large

Ok thanks
I will have to get some rope

And for my tackle...

I bought some 9/0 J hooks already and some 10oz pyramid sinkers
What is the most simple way to attach a wire to my 80 lb test braid?
How should i attach the weight?
Many have given me advice but i have not seen one easy way to do it
Crimps?...haywire?

Haywire twist to a swivel then 400lb mono on top with a egg sinker or a snap swivel then crimp or tie the 400lb to a swivel and then tie to your main line.
