Well my buddy is working on getting the last of the original 80-130 blanks we could find and I'm considering keeping my 9/0 after i get my 50 and build a seeker for it only thing I don't like about my 80-130 is it's heavy. I was wondering how the seeker compares in action and weight.

I have the seeker 775-8. It is pretty light compared to Gators, but has plenty of backbone for a 9/0. It has a nice bend, I have a 12/0 on mine and it is perfect, so your 9/0 should be fine. Travis (CapeHaze) recommended this blank to me and he has built a bunch of them, so I'm sure he can chime in and answer any questions about it.

the seekers are nice rods perfect for a 9/0-12/0 and alot lighter than the gators..but if your looking for a bigger rod id recommend a 10ft 50igfa gator

i'd put the 50 on the seeker since it'll be lighter than the 9/0 and balance nicer

I would go with the 8' Seeker 775 it is a great blank and will fit well with a 50.
If you have any questions feel free to give me a call 941-258-7429

If you handle any rod correctly it will never break and if it does it was a factory fault, like not using 200lb test on a 50lb blank with 100lbs of drag might save you some money.

I beleive the lighter the rod the better, holding on to it for a long time while pressure is beign exerted by a big fish may get tiring, some people have bigger builds and can handle bigger set-ups, if i really was forced to i could fully operate a 16/0, but the biggest im comfortable with would be a 14/0.

I currently own a gator, yes it is somewhat heavy, but overall it has beautiful bend and holds my 12/0 real nice. ive fished with a few of my friends seekes, one model i have seen has a very sensative tip but a hell of a back bone.-You may also choose your rod based on the taper of it whether it be a broomstick or a noodle it's mainly about your style.

Ive fished with a broomstick fennwick and a noodle gator (it was cut wrong) both rods have thier ups and downs, i may not be the best person to hear advice about rods since i dotn have a lot of expirience with too many makes and models, but that's just my two cents.

Just an average fisherman.

I've got a gator glass 80-130. with an exw 50/2

I havent hooked up to anything on it yet but I can cast a 3 lb chunk of bait about 60+ yards with it.

its heavier.from tip to but fast action but not extra fast. I'd reccomend it
