Sandbags for weights

If you guys havent tried sandbags or are looking for them these below are great. I use cotton muslin bags because they are eco-friendly. You can buy different sizes depending on how much weight you need. I like them because they wont weigh you down hauling your gear and you just fill them when you need them.

I rig mine as a bite off rig. Which means you tie them to the hook end of the hook with about 24" of mono and when the shark hits the bait he bites off the weight.

These are the type bags I am refering to. Not my auction nor have I bought from them but it is like the ones I use.

They would be simple to make if you have a sewing machine. It probably wouldn't take more than 2 minutes each. I like the eco friendly part. :D

I know some people who use the sandbag technique and swear by it, however their bags are not Eco-friendly. Are there any other bags that can be used.

Yes, the ones I posted are 100% cotton including the string that ties them shut. The bag will eventualy just rot and dissolve naturaly.

I just tried the bag he is talking about this past weekend and the one I used were 4x6 and they were pretty heavy but they have different sizes. The ones I used held good but it wasn't that rough. I'll have to see how these work on a kinda rougher day but it worked for me on this night.

They worked well for us. The only down side was when we got a pickup or non commital run and had to reel the whole rig back in for reset, but that's just fishing ;)

You would have to reset anyway if u used a brick or rock too. I put mine on a sliding rig that way if something picks up and doesn't commit I still have it. As long as it doesn't make a long run and then doesn't commit but like charkbait said that's fishing.
