Sand Bags for Weights - Don't use grocery bags
My buddy reeled in a sand bag tied to a shark rig last night. The sand bag is an effective weight and easier to transport than bricks but DON'T use grocery bags. Get the biodegradable kind.
The last thing we need is more trash in the ocean.
The shark rig appears to have Double stainless Steel J's too. (They may just be new, not stainless) At least one of those did not end up in the gut of a shark.
lots of waste comes from this sport, most are unaware of it. mono tied to bricks/rocks, plastic bags and nylon sandbags. even biodegradable bags take years to degrade. the only reason they're preferred by the eco Nazis is because it takes a decade or less to decompose vs. several decades. bags and balloons used to float baits out then broke off so the bait sinks. sharks cut "free" under piers and bridges. it all adds up and takes its toll.
