why is it i see guys running 12/0 and 14/0 reels on 8, 9, even 10ft rods? your kayaking the bait out right? and most of the "bendo" pics i see, these rods barely bend. that has to suck with 30+lbs of drag and trying to lift the tip of a telephone pole... does it not? So with the ability to use longer sand spikes/pvc, having to maneuver around bridge and pier pilings and light poles, and having access to a plethora of off the shelf, stand up rods that will actually bend and work the fish for you, what is the reasoning behind these huge rods?

also, why do some of you guys use plastic or silicone tubing on your rods?

Taller The Rod More Backbone & It Puts Pressure On The Shark, Hosing For Bridges So You Dont Trar Up Your Rod ;)

seems by simple physics of the Lever, the shark has the advantage on you with a longer rod.

thats kind of what i was thinking for the tube. thanks for clarifying. shoot i might do it just to protect them during transport.
