Rigs, Having Trouble

I bought all the supplies to make a shark rig like Josh did in his tutorial video on youtube. I'm having trouble doing the double haywire twist on the hook with #15 278lb single strand wire. It just seems too stiff and takes A LOT of strength to bend, but in his video it looks like he bends it without much force. Is there any easier way to do this? Thanks

Make sure you leave yourself enough length on the tag end before you make the first bend. A glove can also help you out.

I had the same issue with #19 wire, double and single strand. Once I started leaving plenty of space on the tag end, it was a piece of cake.

I used to have trouble twisting my #19 when I started out too. What I do now is use either my hook or swivel whichever end I'm twisting on as leverage. It makes it really easy. Don't forget to KEEP THOSE WRAPS TIGHT!!!! I've seen them slip before on sloppy wraps. Don't want to lose that big fish and suffer from some major heartbreak after a long battle because of leader failure.

I don't believe that there is any need for doubling up 19 or 15 wire. Just do a single wrap and you'll be fine

I tried using the hook as a leverage but it kept slipping. Also will it make too much of a difference if I use double or single strand?

The idea of the double strand is to help prevent the kinking of the wire.

Cable can get shredded and wire can kink/bend. Pro's N con's of each so this is like a way around a con of the wire.

Doubling up is intended when going for monsters and head shakers. Even if doubling up #19 doubled the strength, it's irrelevant given the limits of the shock leader and line.
