Reviving a Harrington 555 (Chaos rebuild)

My Harrington 555 rod that i bought as a teenager in the late 70's was stolen a few years later while fishing at the bear Cut bridge in Key Biscayne Florida but my cousin Erwin bought another 555 blank from J Lee Cuddy Rods in 1980 and used it for many years then sold it to my brother George some years ago.My brother gave me the rod about a month ago and I was excited to have an original Harrington back in my possesion .I took the the rod which was in sad shape with a butt that was too short and guides that were not properly spaced and I asked Marshall at Chaos rods to revive the "old great one" and he did a wonderful job on it as always.Ikept the original reelseat and everything else is brand new including the stainlees steel foul-proof guides and Aftco bigfoot roller. The rod is absolutely gorgeous and the selection of colors I selected based on a solid fiberglass rod Big Ken Lineberry bought at a pawn shop and is having Chaos rebuild with the same colors.

the original still functional reelseat

Paid $100 for the rebuild includes parts(guides, tip, grips, buttcap) and labor -minus the reelseat which is the original Varmac or Lakeland -not sure.I'm happy with the work and Marshall is always a very fair person.

Marshall at Chaos Rods just got in a shipment of a new style shark blank 8 foot long and a very nice bend and not overly heavy,,,,it's a little shorter then a 555 Harrington but very nice.

I can't stop looking at that one. One of the nicest rebuilds I have ever seen, love it! Are you fishing it? Makes me want a 555 to send to Chaos
