Reel Seat Install

Being new at rod building I asked this question and got some different answers on other boards. What's the best way to install a reel seat for a 12/0 or bigger reel. Masking tape arbors or drywall tape to build up the blank? I ended up using drywall tape then found out they have a tendency to twist on you, or so some people say.

So if the reel seat does twist do I have to completely strip all guides and remove the foregrip to fix it?

There are some more experienced builders here, but I've used masking tape and rodbond and put plenty of excess of it where I want the seat to go. Make sure you pack it in on the side of the tape and this will fix the arbors and prevent spinning.

You can use a dremel to cut the reel seat in half and remove it that way, but the new seat would need to fit over the butt of the rod. Then replace the rear grip.
