Hey guys, alright so im getting a new rod built its going to be a 80-130lb blank around 7ft. This is going to be my bridge rod, so im thinking about getting a longer butt. The 130lb butt i may use is 26.5 inches. Is that to long you think? I know some of you use a 24inch butt. If i do use the 26.5 inch butt, it will put the rod right at around 9 ft. So yeah is the butt to long? Ive never fished with one that long.

Dont quote me on this butt, If your using a 7ft blank and have a 24-26.5 inch butt your total rod length is still 7ft...not 9ft

Unless there's a special rod butt reel seat attachment that i dont remember or know about.

BUTT to the real question i always used a 24 inch simply because i dont like belts...and 24 has always been sufficient for a big guy like me.

How about using a cut pole or something to see the feel of it?

Below is the new 24 inch cork butt i just had made.

Yeah yeah thats what i meant, sorry if i confused you, the rod itself wont be 9 ft i was taking in consideration the butt. I dont like belts either thats why im thinking about doing this. By the way that is huge for a spinning combo!! I dig it though!!!
