I recently bought a new Penn International 50vw.... I'm buying 1500yds of 100lb. power pro...
And I already have a 1lb spool of 125lb BullBuster Mono....

How much braid should i put, and how much topshot on top of the braid?

Thanks,
Chris

I personally like about 100yds of mono for a topshot, ive had better hook sets with that then with say 200-250yds as I think its lets stretch. So id fill the reel as tight as possible with say 1inch of room left then tie a modified bristol for the line to line, then fill with mono. I overspool my reels but I can levelwind at any condition or during any fight with sharks. If you don't have a lot of experience with levelwinding by hand then I would suggest not over filling your reel.

But it also depends where you will be fishing. If you fish spots with a lot of sandbars more mono could be better as it will hold up drag across the sandbars better than braid. Braid is great for its capacity and sensitivity but mono has its perks as well.

you really might wanna check out #130 hollow braid, stuff is really really nice. you can fit roughly 600yrds with 250 ish yards of #130 mono on top
