I have a spider hitch double line with 125 mono cut the loop twisted the line to a braid and I've done a cinch knot but it does not hold to good.

?? what are you using the knot for - tying a double line, tying to a swivel or what ?

its hard to do complicated knots with doubled line unless its braid - especially large line like 80lb and up - what about just a simple uni - thats what i use on 80lb - 150lb mono and it works fine - never lost one at the knot. we may be using a different type of leader though - we are using a heavy piece of 400-600lb mono as a tail leader and then a bite leader but if your using just a long piece of wire and tying straight to your main line i guess i can see why you would use a double line. see what others offer as advice that may fish that same style leader if that is what you are using - otherwise you may want to try a 2 piece leader like i mentioned.

I use long #19 wire with a swivel and then tie my main line which is then doubled and then i tie the double line to the swivel and it gave the other night. It just seems like you really cant lock it down bc of the double line. I braid (twist) the double line so i dont have two strands of line flopping around. And then i tie it to the swivel with a cinch but you can only do like 3 twist and it seems like its not to tight. I can do the offshor knot but i have to leave the line untwisted and then thers two lines flopping again.

After switching to the uni knot, i have not had a single knot failure with that knot, i suggest for double line a bimini twist if you want to take the time, it doubles as a double line and a shocker but after 100lb test, it is an absolute pain to tie correctly

also look up the offshore knot, its great too because you can unsinch it and take your rigging off

Ive used the offshor knot and its good but i hate leaving the two strands of double loose. but i think the uni is holding pretty good im going to tie it to my truck and pull tight and see thanks

tie a spider hitch in the line, and dont cut the loop. Then just tie a uni to uni with the doubled line. Holds great
