To me it is all preference when it comes to knots, everyone knows which knots are really horrible, but when you start getting knots with 80% and more strength there will be controversy, out of experience I will say that the best knot you can make is a bimini to uni, that is how I got my 10ft tiger on 60lb test, and when I didn't tie this knot on a lazy day, I popped a lemon off on hook set... Considering where you will be fishing, I think 600 yards of any line on appropriate tackle is plenty  , but considering if you fish a little north of miami or south, you will find beaches with reef and be glad you had a longer top shot on a bigger shark challenging your line, I would have at least 200 yards of heavy mono top shot, if I had your set up I would do 400 yards of mono because I like fighting sharks on the mono side.

Just an average fisherman.

Straight albright is much weaker then bimini to albright or sebile knot.

P.S. Like stellarol said, knowing your knots is more important then tying new knots improperly.

i like what i saw on youtube which was the fg knot which doesnt need a bimini ir anything and it the knot is amazingly stream line and looks like it would just slide thru the guides real easy

I agree with you Slasher I would much prefer to have just mono in the water when possible. I may reduce the amount of braid to allow a longer mono topshot, I'll see what will fit. I was expecting to get at least 200 yards of mono on there. I want to set it up so that it will handle just about any shore situation in Florida waters, beach, inlet, bridge, pier, sand bottom, rocky bottom, reefs, sanbars etc and I think the longer topshot the better, without sacrificing too much overall line capacity for when the big one comes along. It's a question of getting the right balance.
