What brand mono do you guys prefer? I need to put fresh 130 on the 14/0 and want some ideas. Also, any ideas where to get the best deal? Thanks.

I like Ande or Sufix. Either one has held up well on the lobster traps and power polls in the Keys. I think the best deal would be EL Capitan on either NW 27th Ave or on South Dixie. They have even better prices on line than Capt Harry's. I hope this helps.

The momoi high-catch I used last year has been very reliable. No complaints other than the price.

Bullbuster line's has unbeaten prices... and has been put to the test by bigger hammers big bulls and multiple other fish. With a 5lb spool of bullbuster mono you'll be able to fill up two 14/0's and have line left. It costs $50 for a 5lb spool, Ande and Moimoi are guna be more then 100% more expesive. You can either order online here: http://www.dieselpro.com/safetyequipment.aspx (scroll down). Or if you live in Miami Dade we can meet up and I'll sell you some.

We pack 1200yrds of 200lb jb spectra on the 80's and top it off with 100yrds of 220lb momoi x-hard momo. It's about 300 bucks worth of line on each reel but it's well worth it.

While there are many mono fishing lines to chose from, i prefer only hybrid. One brand that i guarantee that nobody will be disappointed is Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
Check this site: http://www.yo-zuri.com/01_products/14_y ... ybrid.html
Pay close attention on the average braking strength. Let's say for a 50lbs MONO you'll get with this line a 70lb line. How? Well, it's a very advanced mix of fluorocarbon and nylon. I used 40lb line even for leader, has a VERY STRONG knot. When i fish for Spanish Mackerel i have a light rod and my favorite line is this 10lbs hybrid (16.5lbs braking strength).
Now, you may say, this stuff is hard to find and very expensive - that's true and not! While you can find a 3lb spool for $185, you can also find it for $65 with shipping.
I know a website where you can get this line for $65 3 lb spool, so if anyone is interested to buy it cheaper let me know. I'm looking to buy 50lb (70.5lb braking strength) line that comes with 3,300yds 3lb spool, but i only need out of it 710yds for my 50w the rest would be a waste for me. If anyone is interested to make a shared purchase, let me know ASAP since is ON SALE ON THAT WEBSITE. They only sell in smoke color, which is also excellent for shark/bottom fishing. To fully spool a 9/0 reel it would cost $14 per reel 710yds 4.6 reels per 3lb spool, so you can't get more cheaper then that. Again, this is NOT A CHEAP LINE cost $185/3lb spool at regular price.

I am a huge fan of bullbuster, ande, and penn line.

The penn tournament line although it may be a funky green color, does hold up on some big fish very little stretch.

I use ande on all my small reels for snook, tapron, and cuda.

But I like the specs on bullbester the most: like all mono it does stretch somewhat, but it tends not to leave a memory, has high abrasion resistance, and it is incredible strong. out of all my trips shark fishing and watching people get hung up on lobster traps and even I myself hung up on them, bullbuster was the only line strong enough to actually break away and drag the whole lobster trap up to the bridge without breaking.

P.S. @ boghy, although it is good and strong line, the breaking point will be a problem when trying to enter a fish for a world record. Say you catch a monstrous shark on that hybrid line at 100lb test, when you send in your sample to IGFA they will tell you your catch does not count because the line might have gave way at like 160lbs or something.

Just an average fisherman.

I've got a question if anyone could help, & then want to say something,

OK 1st my question :

a few years back I ordered some line from BASS PRO SHOPs, because I ordered two rods & figuerd I'd try some of this brand I never used before, it had a pretty good pitch,
It was "POWER PRO" NOW this is "MONO or a blend FLOURO-MONO, not sure, anyway;it was said that there was no stretch , it was very limp, nomemory, & long lasting ,abrasion resistant.

So I only ordered enough to fill one ,maybe 2 BASS fishing casting reels
WISH I'd ordered 5pounds ,if it was available
this line has been outrageous , lives up to it's ad pitch, & STILL going strong!
Only they must've discontinued it , can't see it anywhere, Has anyone here seen it
POWER PRO ClearGreen mono type line anyone?
