minimum length on a bridge rod????
i like to bridge fish but also like to beach fish. i wanna trade in my 5 footer for something more suitable for a bridge, does the length matter when youre on the beach, because everyone is saying a ten foot rod on the beach can be a disaster. id rather here it from you guys.
I've fished 10 footers on Bridge, but that rod on the beach can be challenging. I cut that rod down to 9 feet, for me it works both for pier/bridge and beach. On the beach, I sit down in sand and use a shoulder harness. I think an 8 footer could also work for bridge/pier.
There's really no right or wrong here. It's whatever you are comfortable with. I personally have two 10 footers. One with a 10/0 one with a 12/0. I also have a 9 footer with a 9/0 but don't use it too often. I have been using 10 footers for a long time so i'm used to it. I like the long rods because on the bridges when you get that Shark staright up and down or next to the bridge you can really use that 10 footer to keep the Shark from going under the bridge without having your line rub on the bridge. With a short rod your line is likely going to rub on the bridge which is not good. On the beach i also like the long rods. For starters if there are a lot of weeds on the shoreline your long rod in the rod holder is going to be elevated that much more from the wash and clear from the seaweed. Like I said there is no right or wrong. Go with whatever you are comfortable with and works for you. Good luck!
