How many rods
I like to have two baits in when I am fishing with other people. One in close and one out far.
I'll use the big set up, like a 14/0 or 130 for the long drop and either a spinning rod with a casted bait or a 50W or 30W with a short drop from the yak. These are set up on 7 ft stand up gear.
200LB braid with 250 LB mono top shot on the big reels and 65 lb braid on the spinner and 30W.
I am setting up an 80W on a 9'6" gator glass so I can fish bigger baits when I am solo and not have to strap into the stand up gear. That will get 200LB braid with a 250 LB topshot.
My setup is similar to Gucci, just not quite for enormous sharks. I also try to introduce a lot of new people to the sport, so my equipment gets shared.
2 - Penn Tuna Stick rods with Penn Senator 9/0 reels and 800 yards of 50 lb. mono. For fishing beyond the breaking waves and into the deeper water.
2 - 12 foot surf rods with 300 yards of 50 lb. braid. For the close shallows and/or bait fishing.
These will get shared with a buddy, one of each type rod per person. I also have a cuban yo-yo setup with 200 yards of 100 lb. mono. I don't use it much, but then again, I'm not very good with it yet.
