How big can a spinner handle

Finally got my spinfisher 8500 in and I got it spooled with 65lb braid. Holds approximately 470 yards

My question. What size Sharks are in the safe zone for this reel and what size begins to push its limits. Fishing the gulf side btw just to relate to species

That reel has 35LBS of drag at max, which is a lot!
Since you have 470 yds of 65 LB line, you have plenty of line to fight a fish on a casted bait.
Just need to make sure your leader is long enough to keep the tail away from that braid.

On the SSV 10500 (without maxing out the drag or using more than 300 yards of line) My friends and I have caught lemon sharks over 8 ft long. We also got a BIG eagle ray, scalloped hammer and small Great Hammer.

I also got a 8'6" Lemon on a penn sql 60 that had less drag than the SSV 8500. Almost used 300 yards of line in that fight.

Someone also got a Bull shark on the SSV 10500 in the 2013 BHC but I don't know how the reel was spooled or how much drag was needed.

You should be set for some fish that are bigger than you expect!

I also have the Spinfisher 8500. I always worry about how much pressure (of the 35lbs of drag) I can put on that 65lb braid before it breaks.

You will not snap that 65LB braid with 35 LBS of drag.

It would probably test out over 80LBS and the SSV has a smooth drag so inertia should not be an issue
