Help: Roller guides
I think $$$ is usually the deciding factor, and or preference. Going with all rollers can be big bucks, I prefer AFTCO "Big foots" They're tough as nails and have the ability to clear large knots when necessary. There are other rollers that have big knot clearance too but I prefer the big foots. It reduces the overall cost and a lil weight I think to do a roller tip, a handful of turbo's and a big roller. Personally I like both concepts. What size and type reel is this being built for? Also line would help me make up my mind if I were in your shoes. IE Braid, Dacron, 200lb-300lb Mono?
Nice
, I like all rollers but another thing to think about is sand, my rod with all rollers squeaks and squeals something awful while Im getting a nice run. (need to clean or replace the bearings in mine). Turbo's dont do that
I also have a shark rod that is all turbo guides and one with all triplefoots, I love all 3.
Sounds good to me,
but Im no master rod builder (Ive only built a few) there are quite a few guys around here that could advise you a lil more definite. Have you read the thread about building shark rods? Some good info in there. viewtopic.php?f=49&t=1918
