headlamp for night fishing
hey guys I was wondering what headlamps you guys prefer for night fishing, both of mine just burned out and I'm looking to get some new ones, better than the ones I got from walmart that kind of just light up a beam directly in front of you. any suggestions on make and models you swear by? thanks
I am interested in what responses you get. I swore by a mid level Petzel that I overpaid for at a local outdoor shop. This thing was great in the pitch black in the woods but failed on the beach. I saw was because I got dumped a few weeks ago and lost the lamp. Anyway, there are some guys that don these super bright and fairly inexpensive lamps. Key is fresh batteries.
I tried several brands, streamlite, petzl, coleman, and princeton. The princeton EOS is an amazing light, best headlamp I have used. I have been dumped several times with it on, and had waves go over my head many times also while surf fishing, but it is still like new. Since trying the EOS the others are just backup lights for others to use.
When it comes to hand held lights the best I have tried was a huge suprise, given the price and brand. The Coleman tac70, 700 lumen flashlight is way better then any other conventional flashlight I have tried. It is amazing, and only runs on 6 AA's, price only 39.95
A tip on AA, and AAA batteries. The Sunbeam brand of alkaline batteries from Dollar Tree, 4 in a pack for $1, are an amazing value, I will never buy high priced AA and AAA's again
