This rod has a 28 tip and measures about 8'9" It's a beast. The butt diameter is 1 inch. Do you know the model number?

i would say a 553 but if u measured it wrong it could be a 555 which is full leangh it comes out to be 8 foot 6 inches and a 553 full leangh comes out to be 10 foot
The measurement was done quickly, however I do think it's longer then 8'6.
I brought the rod into 2 shop they both said it was a Harnell.
Can you suggest another company, if you feel its not a Harnell? The rod was purchased in the late 70's

I bought my Harrington 555 at Lee Cuddy in Miami in 1978 when I was in high school and it was about the same length and just as thick as that blank, but much shinnier.
