I have several books but I don't think the guide placement tables are specific for the rod I'm building. Using those tables I get the tip to first guide of like 3 inches for distance which doesn't sound right. It's a 10' Jawbone 1053, 60-100lb rating (similar to he Harnell/Harrington 553 I think). An Avet EX50W will be going on it and I'm going to do a spiral/acid wrap with 9 guides plus the tip. Does anyone have any recommendations of where to start for the guide placement so I can do a static test? Butt to middle of reel seat is 24 inches. Thanks for any help 
I would PM Joe on here I know he does acid wraps, and has been quick to answer any of my questions.
there is really no guide placement chat just put them on with tape and bow the rod up and see how it is and move them around. go to acidrod.com and they have a chart you can print that is a wheel to put your transition guides on.

The Guide placement is the same the only difference is you roll the left until they are on the underside of the blank.
first guide center, second guide 45 degrees to the left from center, third guide 90 degrees left from center, forth guide 135 degrees left of center and all of the other guides are 180 degrees from center. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that would help. Are you doing a simple spiral? That's what I was thinking of doing since it sounds like I could mess it up the least, just one straight up at the butt, one 90 degree then the rest straight down to the tip.
i make the spiral have 2 guides bc ive seen rods with one guide making the spiral and they seem to rub
the first guide is like a normal rod then i tilt the next guide a little then the ext guide a little more than the next one then the 4th guide is 180 from the first guide

yea i would do atleast 2 transitions. i had a acid wrapped kingfish rod that when the rod was underload the line would rub the blank. i was scared to fish power pro on it i prolly would have sawed through my blank.

same thing as the left side. its all preference.
