Good rod builder???

(@pier-rat)
New Member

I just purchased a Penn Baja Special, and I need a rod for it. I built a 9ft MudHole Gator, for my LX that I currently have it on. However, this rod isn't that good, I already traded the rod to a friend.

I'm in Jupiter and I've already talked to Todd at Juno Bait, but I hear X-gen is good too.

Maybe someone would know a guy who could get me a good deal ;)

Thank you!
Kevin

I have purchased rods from xgen. I also had a rod rebuilt as well. Then I sold those rods and had the rebuilt rod-rebuilt. Fortunately, I came across a rod builder who works out of his house at a great price and a perfect product. I think he has made over a dozen rods for me and my buddies. The most recent is a 1980 fenwick surfcasting rod that was put togethere with crazy glue and electrical tape by my Dad. The rod was stripped and completed and is considedred first class by anyones standard. I will post photos soon. Pm me if you would like his info.

I'll second that. Apex Custom Rods are sweet and Jason is a cool guy to work with. Plus he's a shark guy.

Sorry for the delay, been busy. here u go
Choas rod had scratches and he took them out as well as a decal.

This Fenwick is from the 1980s and it was put together with electrical tape and crazy glue. He did it over.

He built this rod from a Calstar blank - It's incredible

Here is a video of the rod in use

This is the Harnell that xgen did for me and then I gave it to Garrett about 6 months latter to do the entire rod over.

I hope this helps - good luck
