Fishing line, braid or mono!

I know everyone has their opinions on what to use, so I'd like to hear them! I'll add in I will eventually be using my reel to swordfish, which I know I can only use braid, but for shark fishing off the beach would I be better off going with mono or braid, and if so what lb? I currently own a Tiagra 50wlrsa and have a custom rod believe it's a 80-130 or 130-unlimited, but not positive. Now I know that braid gives you more capacity and no stretch, and mono is cheaper, and more abrasion resistant but it stretches, so what recommendations does everyone have for braid vs mono? Thanks

For sharks, I like to fish 2/3 braid and 1/3 mono. However I have never fished for swordfish before so I don't know how well that would work. For sharks I would run 100pound braid to 100pound mono.

Ok thanks, ya I don't know I'll look into it, I don't know how the mono would work for the swordfish, I'll have to look into it because even though a 50w is big it's not that big compared to other reels. So I'll have to look into that, but thanks for your advise.

If you're going to be using the reel for daytime sword fishing then you'll need all braid do be able to drop the bait down deep enough. If you just want to use the reel for nighttime swording you can use mono and probably use the same setup for shark fishing. As ZT entioned 1/3 mono 2/3 braid is a good setup to give you lots of capacity and still the abrasion resistance of mono. Or you could go 2/3 mono and 1/3 braid to save some money but still increase your capacity. Thats how i have my reel setup
