i mean if you get 2 80w are you really gonna use both all the time i personally would go with 1 130 you can put any bait you want on that reel and fear few sharks the drag is just as strong but its like a leverdrag 16/0 which really is disgusting lol only thing better 18/0 everol lol

Go back and read this report again and watch the videos - this is an Avet 50w (not t-rex) on giant bluefin tuna between 600lbs and 1200lbs - on a regular Avet 50w. If the reel is set up correctly (some people pull them out of the box and just fish them without ever learning how to properly use them) you can land much biggger fish than you ever thought possible. Read the report and you will see what im talking about.

Definitely buying into the smaller reels. Don't think you need much bigger than 80W and few sharks will test that. Im going smaller reels (30W and 50W), because I want a fight with a shark, I don't want to just horse them in. Starting a fight that you know you win, is no fun, at least for me.

so when that 14 15 foot hammer or tiger picks up your bait and weighs over 1500 pounds your sure that the 80w will have enough line to hold him and honestly everyone talking about these high drags makes me wonder if anyone can even hold their ground when they say oh i put a 100lbs of drag on him and stopped him cuz honestly im a big guy and i work out a lot and 50 or 60 lbs of drag will make me ski thru the sand and ive had it happen so all the talk of the extremely high drags doesnt impress me really cuz idk many men who can even hold on to the reel....just sayin

Heavy drag can be accomplished and your not going to go skiing thru the sand - you will more likely be pulled over forward from losing your balance than be drug thru the sand. You have to think of it like this too though - in the past 5 years how many fish exactly over 12' have been caught - how many reels in good working order have actually been dumped? I bet if you find out the answers to those questions you will see that the fish that will actually give an 80w a work out is really not an every day thing or even an every year thing. What you will see though is that 95% of the fish caught are under 10' and bringing in those fish with a 130 or even an 80w really isnt much of a battle. The biggest fish I have personally witnessed being caught was a 10'7" tiger - the reel was an Avet 80w that had a 425yd topshot of heavy mono - with a drop of around 200yds the fish NEVER got into the braid backing - thats a 600lb plus fish. Even if it had gotten to the braid that would have been 500yds more of line to get to the bottom of the spool. The thing people forget about heavy drag is if its rough on you then its rough on the fish too - they cant pull that hard for that long without wearing out just like you cant hold those kinds of pressures for that long. Look hard at the 80w and 50w reels before committing to a 130 - youll have a lot more fun with the other 98% of the fish youll be catching.

There are multiple testaments on here from this year of their 14/0 getting dumped and over the years even more I'm just saying id rather have the same heavyset drag but also have a lot of line cuz like u said u can't hold those drags for long I know an 80w holds a lot of line too but id rather have the 130

High drags equal skiing is the number one reason i love everols. I can ease into these crazy drag numbers and not have to slam 100+ lbs of drag on a fish instantly. This prevents me from being drug off of piers etc. However, a few boats have made me close to water skiing but i held my ground. I agree with 80ws being overkill most of the time but when i fish my larger everols, only kingkong baits go on. Even then though ive caught for instance a 8ft plus tiger and he barely took drag. Thought it was a monster nurse as my 12 wore him out very quickly. My 4 everol is my primary reel i fish and is equivalent to a 30size reel and has no issues on 6-9ft lemons, bulls, sandbars, spinners. Braid has revolutionized fishing with lighter gear, there is very little need to have a 14/0 size senator when u can use a 50w and produce more drag efficiently and have similar yardage in line with a braid/mono topshot opposed to just mono or dacron on the 14/0. Star drags are inefficient and old technology
